Zilavka Grape Origins
Žilavka is a white grape variety from Bosnia & Herzegovina. It is by far the most common variety in this region, grown mainly around city of Mostar but has also spread to Montenegro, Kosovo and reached Northern Macedonia.

Zilavka Wine Characteristics
Žilavka is a late ripening wine, resistant to drought and producing an alcohol-rich, acidic white wine with aromas of nuts and apricots present in the young wine, becoming more pronounced with age. In view of its traits it is especially desirable for the production of brandies and other grape-derived spirits. It has a uniqueness and peculiarity with a specific aroma and strength intrinsic to southern wines.
It is a perfect accompaniment to lamb, boiled or grilled, with trout and other freshwater and sea fish and to cheese and prosciutto. It is best served chilled at 10-12 C.
